Asha's headquarters

Origins of the site

Asha's headquarters is just a short distance from the slum where its work began 18 years ago. The entire premises has been refurbished recently (aided by many kind donations from Asha supporters) as it had been built on a pit and the whole building was tilting to one side. Now that it has been saved from collapse, the building can continue to serve its many purposes.

The polyclinic today

The site is the first destination for any volunteers or visitors who wish to see Asha's work first hand. The environment is bustling and lively six days a week due to building's main function as a diagnostic centre and polyclinic. The clinic employs three part-time doctors and has the equipment, tools and technology required to carry out minor surgical procedures, laboratory testing, radiology and ultrasound screening. There is also an eye clinic, and we are adding further capabilities all the time thanks to the generosity of Asha's supporters and partners.

Administrative and fundraising staff are based at the headquarters, as are programme co-ordinators who spend their time here when not working in the slums, accounts personnel and other staff who form the Asha team.
