Asha slums are remarkably different from other slum areas. The majority of residents are healthy, and those who are unwell know where to go for help. Community volunteers keep a watchful eye on the health of families in their area.
Powerful women's groups know how to tackle community problems and are respected by their fellow residents. The members of children's groups show knowledge far beyond their years, working independently to improve their communities' access to schooling, a safe environment and other basic rights.
Community members are no longer excluded from financial services and can get the help they need to make interest on their earnings or invest in their homes, businesses or their children's education. Young people are full of hope and keen to study, showing a real determination to make life better for themselves and their families.
Each day, more people are reached. Asha transforms lives.

I grew up in a slum area, but Asha helped me to understand the importance of education. I've worked hard in school for years, and Asha gave me books and extra tuition when I needed it. Now I'm in engineering college! It's a dream come true for me.
