Asha Centre at Zakhira Now Complete

Posted: 26/02/2007

A group of 12 volunteers from Twickenham have finished painting the Asha health & children's resource centre in Zakhira, despite very tight project timescales of just 5 days from start to finish.

The team have given the centre a completely new lease of life with fresh coats of paint throughout and dazzling murals in the children's rooms.

The impressive turnout at today's inauguration ceremony showed how delighted the residents are with the renovated centre. A very large crowd of men, women and children arrived to see the centre re-opened by the Reverend Andrew Watson and a local MLA.

Thank you Asha

Since I’ve been involved with Asha I’ve learnt so much about health and how I can help my neighbours. I’ve also learnt to speak English, and I know how to use computers as well - I have a much better chance of getting a good job when I leave school.
