On February 11, Asha Polyclinic opened its doors to students from the Life Centre Academy. Life Centre Academy was established several years ago to provide schooling for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and for those with special learning needs. Each year, Asha provides every student from the Academy with a full medical check up, free of charge in order to reduce the financial burden placed on their families. The children are checked for a range of problems including malnutrition, immunisation and parasitic illnesses.

I was suffering from Tuberculosis and my son couldn't cope with looking after me so he moved out. The TB got worse and I relapsed. An Asha community health volunteer noticed my illness, made sure I took my medicine and gave me rations of nutritious food. If Asha was not here I would have died by now.
