Tuesday, 6th March, saw the launch of a book written by Aditya Awasthi, the Treasurer of Asha. The book, "Delhi Kranti Ke 150 Varsh" vividly describes Delhi in the 19th century at the time of India's first freedom struggle. The book is published at a most appropriate time as India prepares to celebrate the 150th year after the 1857 rebellion.
The publication was launched by Delhi's Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, and the occasion was presided over by Delhi's Education Minister Arvinder Singh and attended by several Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

Mr Awasthi's book contains previously unknown facts about the mutiny of 1857. Sheila Dikshit praised the book and said that it throws light on the contribution of Delhi's population at a time when everyone fought valiantly to free themselves from British rule, despite their differences in caste, religion and places of origin. Mrs Dikshit claimed that she now sees Delhi in a different light after learning so much more about its history.
The Education Minister spoke of how impressed he was with the simple and clear way in which the book was written. He said that the style of the book should ensure that it finds a place in every school library in the city, allowing all schoolchildren to learn about this important stage in Delhi's history.

I used to drink too much and beat my wife, and then she died. Asha has helped me to get better and to find work. I was suffering from TB but couldn’t travel to get treatment. I went to the Asha clinic where they diagnosed the TB, and now they check that I'm taking my medicine so I can fully recover.
