Career Counselling

Posted: 05/06/2009

The month of May had been a busy and exciting one for all of us here in Asha. The career-counselling program that we started a year ago with students of final year of school had seen a lot of success with almost 200 of them leaving school with good grades. The weeklong careers counselling conducted by Asha staff saw as many as 180 students coming forward to discuss and make the best choice for themselves. Staff members told them about various university courses and professional courses such as multimedia & animation, retail management, aviation & hospitality management, nursing and so on. The process of filling application forms for Delhi University is going on and more than 120 forms have been filled so far.

Hemant, one of the students who came for the career counselling a year ago had joined the Indian Army and now successfully completed his six months of training. He paid a surprise visit to Asha and was proud to show off his army uniform. Hemant and other young people who have successfully joined college courses or new careers are a big inspiration to this year's prospective students - check back in early July to find out how they get on!

Thank you Asha

I grew up in a slum area, but Asha helped me to understand the importance of education. I've worked hard in school for years, and Asha gave me books and extra tuition when I needed it. Now I'm in engineering college! It's a dream come true for me.
