The International Women's Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour at Ambedkar Basti on 8th March. An exhibition of photographs depicted great women, including India's own Indira Gandhi, and included a brief history about each of them. The women from the community went through the exhibition and enhanced their knowledge. They were inspired by the work done by these women and felt more confident to work the holistic development of their communities. The event also included informative speeches by the women from the slums, focusing on the significance of the women's day and on the rights of women. The main attraction of the event was dance performances and songs by the women. They had come out in their best-dressed colourful attires, which were vibrant and breathtakingly beautiful. The women performed with happiness glowing on their faces and in true spirit of enjoying every moment of the programme.
