The Asha Health Centre at Kalkaji is looking bright and beautiful once again, thanks to the Team of 15 students and 3 teachers from Methodist College Belfast who renovated it in just a week's time. A team from the same college last painted the centre 18 months back with beautiful murals but due to the heavy usage and normal wear and tear, the centre had lost its shine.

The centre at Kalkaji is a huge one with 14 rooms and is used to treat patients, hold meetings of the Mahila Mandal and Bal Mandal and run the computer literacy programme. There is also a children's resource centre where books and game materials are kept for the children to spend quality time.
The team painted the children's resource centre, the computer rooms and Bal Mandal meeting rooms with beautiful murals and the other rooms with a new coat of paint. The children were very glad to see their bright rooms and conveyed a big thank you to the team by performing beautiful items during the inauguration.

The members of the Methodist College also interacted with students from the slums who are now attending colleges with Asha's intervention. These students who are amongst the first batch to attend colleges from their respective slums, got ample opportunity to interact and share their dreams.

The centre was inaugurated with much enthusiasm with Dr. Kiran Martin and Ms. Ruth Mckibbin as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The day saw lots of dances and songs from the children, CHVs and the team members.

I used to drink too much and beat my wife, and then she died. Asha has helped me to get better and to find work. I was suffering from TB but couldn’t travel to get treatment. I went to the Asha clinic where they diagnosed the TB, and now they check that I'm taking my medicine so I can fully recover.
