Performance by British Army Band

Posted: 06/03/2010

On 5th March 2010 the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of the British Army  performed live at Jeevan Nagar in front of a gathering of Bal Mandal children and Mahila Mandal members. Ms. Maxine Williams, wife of the Defence Advisor of British High Commission, accompanied the band and was present throughout the performance. The band was extended a warm welcome by the children. The crowd was awestruck by the mesmerizing tunes played by the pipers. When the female members of the band danced on the floor, the children joined them. At the end Ms. Maxine Williams gave gifts to children - pens, pencils, calculators and caps. Although the performance was short, everyone, especially the children, thoroughly enjoyed it.

The band has performed at many prestigious military and civilian events all over the world and enjoys an outstanding reputation for musical excellence. In recent years, it has visited many countries, including USA, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong and Cyprus.

Thank you Asha

I grew up in a slum area, but Asha helped me to understand the importance of education. I've worked hard in school for years, and Asha gave me books and extra tuition when I needed it. Now I'm in engineering college! It's a dream come true for me.
