Renovated Polyclinic Unveiled

Posted: 06/01/2007

On 5th January, Friday, the Asha Polyclinic was jointly inaugurated by Miss Fran Beckett, CEO of Church Urban Fund, and Dr. David Hempton, a Professor of History and Religion at the University of Harvard. Apart from the entire Asha staff, Asha was fortunate to have many visitors present for the occasion which included the Restore team lead by Miss Fran Beckett, 3 volunteers from the USA – Bria, Lindsay and Laura – as well as Dr. and Mrs. Hempton and their children Johnny and Steve.

After the ribbon was snipped everyone entered the brilliantly coloured Polyclinic. A few minutes after the inauguration a number of patients queued outside the Polyclinic reception to get their treatment started!

Once the visitors had been given a tour of the Polyclinic an inauguration function was held at the Laurie Baker Centre. The Asha staff sang a number of songs and performed a few dances and the Restore team also sang a song. All our visitors loved the function and some of them, when they could no longer control their excitement, took to the stage to dance. To end the function a lunch was arranged.

All of us are very thankful to those that contributed to the renovation of our Polyclinic. Thank you to the Global Generation Church team, led by Pastor Mike Andrea, and to Friends of Asha (Ireland) for their generous financial contribution, that helped make the renovation possible.

Thank you Asha

I was very ill and thin because my mother died and my father had TB. Asha staff took it in turns to look after me and gave me the right food to make me better. If they hadn't helped me, I would have died.
