This Easter week, Asha pledged to give free treatment to the poorest people in local slum communities. Asha staff members, Community Health Volunteers and Lane Volunteers always keep a look out for those within the slum communities who need help more than most. During Easter, these people were encouraged to seek treatment at the Asha polyclinic and they then received their consultations, any medication and any further follow-up investigations or treatment completely free of charge.
A total of 52 patients were given free treatment and a wide range of conditions were diagnosed and steps taken towards curing them. These people will receive ongoing support until they have completely recovered. Then, as usual, the volunteers within their communities will make them aware of what they can do to try and stay healthy in the future.
All of us at Asha are extremely grateful to those of you who contributed towards this appeal - thank you very much.

Before, there was no electricity, now there is. There were lots of problems before, but now things are much better. Our lives have changed because of Asha and I would like people to be able to learn as we have, to receive all the training that we have, and to be as confident about ourselves as we are.
