Tearfund Transform team renovate Asha centre at Anna Nagar

Posted: 24/04/2007

A team of 11 volunteers came to Asha from New Zealand, Canada and the UK as part of a Tearfund Transform scheme. Over the last couple of weeks they have managed to completely redecorate the Asha centre at Anna Nagar and give the rooms different themes, including jungle and ocean scenes, and cartoon characters.

Today the centre was re-opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, to the delight of the Anna Nagar's children. Several of them had been practising songs and dances for the team which they performed proudly. The children also had a chance to be entertained as the volunteers danced and sang for them.

A visit to Agra is on the agenda for tomorrow as the team have a couple of days off to recover from all their hard work.

Thank you Asha

The best thing about the loan scheme is how quickly people have seen benefits, whether they are able to earn more or improve their homes...The direct relationship with the banks helps them a lot, and I'm glad to have been part of it.
