Anna Hagans and Lisa Gibson from Licolnshire in the UK are longtime supporters of Asha. After visiting Asha centres in Delhi several times, they both felt certain they wanted to do something to raise money for the people of the slums. It was Lisa who hit upon the idea of driving a rickshaw from England to Delhi. They felt that, aside from being the adventure of a lifetime, such a challenge would be a really good way to raise awareness for the cause.
Anna and Lisa are scheduled to leave Lincoln in July 2011. They are having a launch party on 21st January. The event will be a drinks reception featuring Bollywood dancers and a band. Tickets are still available and you can read more about the trip on their website tuktuktour.co.uk.
You can follow their latest plans on facebook. Watch a BBC report of the challenge here.

We had been working with Asha to improve our slum for many years, but our homes were destroyed as the government needed the land. Asha helped us to get land allocated somewhere new and now, 4 years later, our area has water supplies, electricity, schools and healthcare.
